Welcome & Introduction

Welcome to my new website and thank you for stopping by to take a look.  There are a number of reasons (or excuses) that I put off building a website for displaying my photography for the better part of a year: would anyone visit the site?; is my photography good enough?; would I be able to keep the content fresh?; etc.  Well, here it is...I hope that you will take a minute or two to browse through my galleries and enjoy some of my images as much as I enjoyed making them.  Please come back and visit, as I intend to update these pages and share images and some of the adventures I had in making them.  

Now, a little about myself.  My name is Rusty Parkhurst and I live in a rural area about an hour north of Kansas City, Missouri.  I purchased my first DSLR, and what I consider my first "serious" camera, about two years ago.  All I really wanted was something of better quality than the average point-and-shoot for photographing family events and my kids' sports activities.  Little did I know that it would become much more than that.  In my quest to learn how to use my new camera, I absorbed as much information as I could from watching video tutorials, listening to podcasts, and reading books.  Then of course, there was practice...lots of practice.  It was in these times of shooting in the quiet solitude of our natural world that I realized that photography was something I loved, and something that I wanted to keep learning and doing.  

Along the way, I have continued to learn and have explored many different photographic genres. Although I have an affinity for landscapes and nature in general, I have also found that I just enjoy creating images, regardless of the subject matter.  At the moment, there are two galleries of images on my website, but I'm sure there will be additions.
